AI is like any tool…

A harsh reminder that it can be used for good and for harm

As a mum of 2 small kids, I can’t help thinking (and freaking out) about this video.

I have recently started my own online business for which I am showing up online a lot more as I use the power of the internet and social media to market what I am doing.

I never used to share pictures of my kids, but lately I’ve been including them in photos with me here in my newsletter and on social media. I am after all building a community of working mums and teaching them how to use AI to work smarter and faster.

So I’m definitely all for new technology and truly believe in its transformational power for us all. Heck, it’s the foundation of the business I am building!

However, this video is a harsh reminder for us all, especially as parents, that AI is like any tool: it can be used both for good and for harm.

Although I believe in the good of humanity and that new tech like AI will be a ‘net good’ for the world, this video made paranoia seep into me.

It snapped me out of my “AI for good” vision and tossed me into a vortex of doom, tinted through the lens of a mother who whilst is excited for what the future holds, is also fearful of the unknown and what that could mean…
