A peek into what’s possible when talent and AI collide…

The rise of AI has sparked one big misconception: That machines will take over, or dare I say, kill human creativity and originality.

Here is a brilliant example that proves this couldn’t be further from the truth:

In the 1970’s, John Lennon recorded a demo that he never finished.

Now, 50 years later, The Beatles have completed and released it — with help from AI.

What’s more, this song “Now and Then” has been nominated for a Grammy alongside stars like Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, and also for Best Rock Performance, competing against the likes of Pearl Jam and The Black Keys.

This remarkable restoration used a technique called “stem separation”:

➡️ AI-powered machine learning was employed to isolate or ‘extricate’ John Lennon’s vocals from the background piano in the original recording from the 1970s.

➡️ AI tools removed background noise and improved the overall audio quality of Lennon’s voice from the 50 year old, low quality recording.

➡️ With the isolated vocal, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr could add new instrumentation.

➡️ George Harrison’s previously recorded guitar parts from the 1990s were also integrated.
